Smart Recovery stands for “Self-Management and Recovery Training.” It incorporates evidence-based principles of Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Smart Recovery includes four areas of focus – (1) Enhancing and maintaining motivation (2) Coping with urges (3) Problem solving and (4) Lifestyle balance.
Choosing Integrity volunteers have led the Smart Recovery InsideOut program at Pike County Correctional Facility for men in the ARROW program and women in the HOPE program for several years.
The InsideOut version of Smart Recovery was designed for use inside correctional facilities and on the outside with inmates after release.
